Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting at the Universität Rostock for an insightful and productive project meeting. As the REFOLUTION project nears its conclusion, this gathering provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the significant progress we’ve made and to strategize the next steps toward achieving our goals.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Fanny Langschwager and Anika Neumann for their outstanding efforts in organizing the meeting and for facilitating the informative laboratory tours. Our gratitude also goes to all project partners for their ongoing dedication and collaboration, which have been key to the success of this innovative initiative.

During the meeting, several key topics were discussed, focusing on the final phase of the project and the path forward:
- Gasoline and Kerosene Composition Estimation: Refining our methods for accurately estimating fuel compositions to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Fuel Validation, Standardization, and Certification: Ensuring the fuels we develop meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and environmental sustainability, paving the way for their widespread adoption.
- Planning for M36–M42: Mapping out the upcoming phases of the project, with a clear focus on aligning key milestones and strategic objectives for a successful final outcome.
- Catalyst Improvements: Investigating cutting-edge innovations to improve catalytic processes, leading to more efficient and sustainable fuel production.
- Bio-Oil Upgrading for Marine Fuels and Co-FCC: Exploring the potential of bio-oil upgrading technologies to enhance marine fuels and optimize co-FCC processes.
With the final phase of REFOLUTION underway, we are excited to see the lasting impact of our collective efforts and the positive contributions we will make to sustainable fuel solutions for aviation and maritime industries!
